The Arts District was established in 1984 as a center of cultural vitality near downtown Dallas. It encompasses 19 blocks and 68 acres. There are 26 visual and performing arts organizations within this area, making it the largest urban arts district in America. Museums in the district include the Dallas Museum of Art, The Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. There are many dining and shopping options within the area as well.

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday – 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday – 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Third Friday of every month, excluding December, the museum is open until midnight
General admission is free to the public for the permanent collection, but certain special exhibitions may require an entrance fee.
There is a great gift shop on location at the Dallas Museum of Art, as well as two wonderful cafes. The DMA Cafe is located near the Museum’s north entrance in the beautiful Hamon Atrium and features a menu of farm-fresh selections made from locally grown products. The menu includes artisanal cheeses, handcrafted sandwiches, and a selection of regional wines and beers on tap. Unique dishes influenced by the Museum's global collection are featured.
